A FILMMAKER’S DREAM

CUBA LOCATIONS

What to expect from filming locations in Cuba?

An archipelago located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean sea. Cuba is surrounded by about 4000 islands and keys, At its heart, is the main island most of you know, then Isla de la Juventud, or the Isle of Pines, as it used to be called before Fidel Castro renamed it on August 2, 1978.

The country holds diverse flora and fauna. Havana’s architectural wonders are world-famous Spanish, Italian, and Soviet-Era styles that mix seamlessly.

With cities protected by UNESCO, Cuba ranks very high when it comes to creative needs. It can pose as a Colombian jungle or a Spanish Colonial Village. Majestic churches can be found all across the island.

The underwater marvels you will find can match the beauty of the most pristine coral reefs. The endemic fauna and shark sanctuaries are only matched by the massive protected areas that house several crocodile breeding centers like the one in Zapata Swamp in the province of Matanzas.

Cuba Location Permits.

Locations that require government permits need a bit more time and work. All hotels, museums, hospitals, resorts, schools, and scientific research centers must be cleared by the designated Cuban Authorities.

Some private locations also need government clearance. In the case of a Journalist Visa covered job, this must be cleared by the International Press Center in Havana, always a must.
